Outside heat temperatures are continuously rising, and amid the already dangerous, record-breaking climate for outside workers, Delta is making things worse by requiring ramp agents to wear plastic “bump caps” that increase the temperature of ramp workers’ heads!

Delta’s bump cap policy is a hazard for Delta workers. Because the issue is so serious, IAM Air Transport Territory General Vice President Richie Johnsen wrote a letter to Delta CEO Ed Bastian in an effort to protect Delta workers.

Johnsen and the IAM have negotiated contracts with all the other major airlines – and none of them have ever proposed requiring bump caps for safety. The rest of the industry knows they are more harm than good.
